Dramatic CCTV footage has been released showing the moment a speeding car ploughing into a Slacks Creek service station, taking out a petrol bowser.

A drunk driver ran a red light in the early hours of December 19 at Slacks Creek, south of Brisbane.

The 32-year-old driver recorded a breath alcohol reading of 0.225%, nearly five times the legal limit. The Kingston man was charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle whilst adversely affected by an intoxicated substance and driving whilst unlicensed.

He recently pleaded guilty in Beenleigh Magistrates Court where he was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment (suspended for two years) and disqualified for driving for 12 months.
